I. System requirements and prerequisites
Complete the following before you install ESET Remote Administrator Server:
- Make sure that the computer on which you plan to install ERA Server meets the minimum system requirements and uses a compatible operating system (view compatible Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems).
- Review the database compatibility requirements for ERA Server:
- If you do not have a database configured for use with ERA Server, Microsoft SQL Server Express is included with the installer. Note that Microsoft SQL Server Express has a 10GB size limit.

Microsoft Access is not supported by ERA Server. ERA Server supports Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL version 5.5 or later.
- If you do not have a database configured for use with ERA Server, Microsoft SQL Server Express is included with the installer. Note that Microsoft SQL Server Express has a 10GB size limit.

Ports used by ERA must be accessible from the server where you will install ERA Server.

Java Runtime Environment version 7 or later must be installed on the server where you will install ESET Remote Administrator Server.
- Make sure that you have your ESET-issued License key, which you should have received via email following the purchase of your ESET product(s).
- Make sure that you know whether you are installing on a 32- or 64-bit system. Click here for instructions to check your system architecture
When you have verified that all requirements and prerequisites are satisfied, continue to part II below to install ERA Server.
II. Install ESET Remote Administrator Server
- Click the link below to download the ESET Remote Administrator Server installer file.

- Once downloaded, run the installer.
- Select Remote Administrator Server and click Next. You can also select you desired language from the Languagedrop-down menu before proceeding.

- Read the End-User License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and clickNext.
- Required components are selected by default and we strongly recommend that you leave them selected. Read the descriptions below and select the appropriate additional components based on the requirements for your network:

Microsoft SQL Server Express: If you have an existing Microsoft SQL or MySQL database that you will use with ESET Remote Administrator, deselect this check box. Leave this check box selected to create a new Microsoft SQL Server Express database for use with ESET Remote Administrator.

Webconsole: This will install the Apache Tomcat service necessary for ESET Remote Administrator Server to manage clients. We strongly recommend that you leave this check box selected.

ESET Rogue Detection Sensor: This will install ESET Rogue Detection Sensor, a component that helps locate unmanaged computers on your network so that you can deploy resources to allow for their management via ERA. We strongly recommend that you leave this check box selected.

Apache HTTP Proxy: This will install the Apache HTTP Proxy service, which caches and distributes updates and installation packages to client computers on your network (similar to the mirror in ESET Remote Administrator 5.x).
Click Install when you are done selecting components. Installation time will vary depending on your system configuration. If a prerequisite is not satisfied or an error occurs, follow the instructions from the installer to resolve any issues.

Microsoft SQL Server Express: If you have an existing Microsoft SQL or MySQL database that you will use with ESET Remote Administrator, deselect this check box. Leave this check box selected to create a new Microsoft SQL Server Express database for use with ESET Remote Administrator.

- Select Activate with License Key and type your License Key into the appropriate field, or select Activate later. If you have an ESET-issued Username and Password from an earlier version of ERA, you can convert them into a license keyusing ESET License Administrator. Click Next when you are finished.

- If you installed the included Microsoft SQL Express Server, continue to step 9.
Users with a pre-existing database: Select the appropriate database type from the Database drop-down menu. Type the Database name, Hostname and Port (you can find this information in SQL Server Configuration Manager) for your database into the appropriate fields and then click Next.

- Users with a pre-existing database: Select Use existing user and then enter the Database username and Passwordif one is used.

- Type the password you will use to log into ERA Web Console into the Password and Confirm Password fields. Make sure to record this password for use later and then click Next.

- In the Certificate information window, you can customize your certificate authority. The only mandatory fields areAuthority common name and Certificate validity. Enter any information about your certificate authority that you want to add. If you create a password make sure that you record it because all client computers using this certificate will require that password to use the certificate. Click Next when you are finished.

- At the Installation successful window, click the URL link to open ERA Web Console. We recommend that you bookmark or make note of this URL for future reference. By default, the ERA installer will create a link to Web Console in your Start menu.

- With ERA Server successfully installed, the next step in deployment is to locate client computers and deploy the ERA Agent to client computers.
