I. System requirements and prerequisites

Complete the following before you install ESET Remote Administrator Server:

  • Make sure that the computer on which you plan to install ERA Server meets the minimum system requirements and uses a compatible operating system (view compatible WindowsMac, or Linux operating systems).
  • Review the database compatibility requirements for ERA Server:

    • If you do not have a database configured for use with ERA Server, Microsoft SQL Server Express is included with the installer. Note that Microsoft SQL Server Express has a 10GB size limit.
    • Microsoft Access is not supported by ERA Server. ERA Server supports Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL version 5.5 or later.
  • Ports used by ERA must be accessible from the server where you will install ERA Server.
  • Java Runtime Environment version 7 or later must be installed on the server where you will install ESET Remote Administrator Server.
  • Make sure that you have your ESET-issued License key, which you should have received via email following the purchase of your ESET product(s).
  • Make sure that you know whether you are installing on a 32- or 64-bit system. Click here for instructions to check your system architecture

When you have verified that all requirements and prerequisites are satisfied, continue to part II below to install ERA Server.

  1. Read the End-User License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and clickNext.
  2. Required components are selected by default and we strongly recommend that you leave them selected. Read the descriptions below and select the appropriate additional components based on the requirements for your network:

    • Microsoft SQL Server Express: If you have an existing Microsoft SQL or MySQL database that you will use with ESET Remote Administrator, deselect this check box. Leave this check box selected to create a new Microsoft SQL Server Express database for use with ESET Remote Administrator.
    • Webconsole: This will install the Apache Tomcat service necessary for ESET Remote Administrator Server to manage clients. We strongly recommend that you leave this check box selected.
    • ESET Rogue Detection Sensor: This will install ESET Rogue Detection Sensor, a component that helps locate unmanaged computers on your network so that you can deploy resources to allow for their management via ERA. We strongly recommend that you leave this check box selected.
    • Apache HTTP Proxy: This will install the Apache HTTP Proxy service, which caches and distributes updates and installation packages to client computers on your network (similar to the mirror in ESET Remote Administrator 5.x).

Click Install when you are done selecting components. Installation time will vary depending on your system configuration. If a prerequisite is not satisfied or an error occurs, follow the instructions from the installer to resolve any issues.
